| Etymology | Kryptopterus: From the Greek kryptos, meaning hidden and pteryx, meaning fin; in reference to the reduced or absent dorsal fin of this group of fishes. |

| General Remarks | Kryptopterus minor is not the glass catfish commonly found in the trade. The species we see in the trade is Kryptopterus vitreolus. Unless you collected the fish yourself in Borneo, you almost certainly have that species. |
