Etymology	Leptoancistrus: Greek, leptos = thin + Greek, agkistron = hook Genus: Greek, leptos = thin + Greek, agkistron = hook (Thin Ancistrus). Named after "Cana" in the type locality.

Identification	The genus Leptoancistrus is characterized by having one or more very long cheek odontodes, and lacking adipose and anal fins.
