Scientific Name Liosomadoras morrowi  Fowler, 1940
Common Name False Jaguar Catfish
Type Locality Contamana, Río Ucayali basin, Peru.
Pronunciation lie oh SEW ma DOOR uss - more row wee
Etymology From the Greek leios, meaning smooth, soma, meaning body and Doras (a genus of doradid catfishes); in reference to the lack of bony plates on the body (when the genus was described as a doradid). Named in honor of Mr. William C. Morrow, who collected the type specimen in an expedition in Peru in July and August, 1937. As a result of that expedition, a total of 319 specimens belonging to 106 species were sent to Henry W. Fowler at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, who described 22 species and five genera as new, including Liosomadoras morrowi.

Down Husbandry Information
Feeding Readily eats most kinds of food. Prepared, frozen and live foods eaten with gusto. Will also eat small fishes, if given the chance. User data.
Furniture Provide plenty of driftwood and PVC pipes for hiding.
Compatibility Suitable for a community tank with medium- to large-sized fishes. Cannot be kept with fishes small enough to fit the mouth as they are likely to be eaten. Congeners may fight, so it is important that enough space and hiding spaces should be provided if more than one is kept. Ideal tankmates include medium South American tetras and cichlids.
Breeding Not reported.
Breeding Reports There is no breeding report.
