Etymology | From the Greek notos, meaning back and oura, meaning tail. In reference to the confluent adipose and caudal fins. This epithet has two possible meanings. The first meaning refers to its nocturnal ways. The second meaning refers to this specimen keeping its identity a secret from researchers for so long. |
