Etymology | Parotocinclus: Greek, para in the side of + greek, ous, otis = ear + Greek, kygklos, ou = a fish. bidentatus signifies two teeth and is used as a Latin adjective. The name refers to the presence of two types of dentition, namely the usual series of oral teeth and accessory patch of teeth on the upper and lower jaws. |
