Type Locality Pastaza: río Pucayacu at confluence with rio Bobonaza (Pastaza-Marañon Dr.), Ecuador, 1°54'21.4"S, 77°13'16.3"W.
Etymology From the Greek xyliphion, meaning a piece of wood; in reference to the overall appearance.
