Folks,
Friend of mine picked up this fellow today, and though it looks familiar, I can't put a name on it, so I turn to y'all.

Unidentified Loricaria
Folks,
At the behest of someone else, I'm trying to pin down the species name of this whiptail catfish. The fish will reach 11 inches, according to the seller.
Thanks,
Dave

Mystery black catfish
Howdy all,
Friend of mine at another forum is looking for an ID of a black catfish with 'three glittery-gold thick lines' running vertically on the fish. Now I can ID most any catfish but that really doesn't ring a bell with me. Any ideas, folks?

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. Only concern would be whether the 8 inch Randahls would eat the 2 or 2.5 inch neon rainbows in the wee hours of the morning.
I might just have to bite the bullet and use loaches but it'll chaff me to do so.
Hmm Dave R that N. ater is a definate possibility ...

I'm in the reseach and planning stages of a 200 gallon planted tank housing two species of rainbowfish. As I like to keep fish from the same part of the world, I've been trying to find an Australian catfish suitable for this setup, preferabley a schooling species. The largest rainbows will ...

Y'know, I spend a decent amount of time during the day trying to point novices in the right direction on another forum but the upshot is this; 99 percent of the new, and sometimes older, aquarium keepers never buy an proper aquarium book and READ it and a similiar percentage doesn't do a lick of ...

Fairly soft and slightly acid is my thing, so I keep flotillas of several species of tetras and the houdinis that are Apistos, among the loricaria and coradine catfish, in my heavily planted tanks. If the tanks are established and well planted, six Apistos will become eight or ten, then 12 or 18 ...

My male P. nigrolineatus has been Lord of All He Surveys in a 350 gallon tank for many years. It's perfectly normal for them to come out during the day when food is available, or even if its not, especially when they feel secure (good hiding places, double-digit schools of tetras). Bigger ...

A number of wild caught fish like your zebra otocinclus come equippied with various pathogens and parasites, which isn't much of a problem in nature. It is, however, quite virulent due to the stess of capture, wholesaling, holding, transhipping, and delivery to LFS and ultimately your tank in vastly ...

May TFH erratum - Acanthus adonis
Some of you folks who read Tropical Fish Hobbyist may remember a reply by TFH in March that Acanthus adonis grew to 10 inches and was a herbivore. There was a thread here about the gross error.
