Re: Breeding L270

First of all, congratulation on your spawns.
It is possible that your L270 are young, I have my F1 generation female that spawned at 18 months of age.
She might have spawned even younger, she just didn`t has suitable male to spawn with.

Re: L-134 breeding.. NEED HELP!!!

I have the same problem as plec0. I have 2 groups of L134, 1M/2F in each tank, they are mature, females full with eggs but no spawns. Last month one group look like they will spawn any minute, male was guarding cave, “fawning” and one female was visiting him regularly. I have tried to leave them ...

Re: L134 Not Eating?

Are you sure they are not eating? Maybe you just don`t see them. Do they have sunken bellies?
If you usually feed the fish during the day, try put some extra food after the light turns off. And personally, I would turn the heater
to 28 degrease.

For newly purchased fish is better to have smaller ...

Re: Breeding L270

I keep my L270 in temp. 27oC, pH 6.8, dGH 9 and dKH 6 and they started to breed without any effort on my side. I just did regular water changes and put in a cave of right size they really like.
For me, Hypancistrus species are not really hard to breed, I have more problems with Peckoltia` s.

Re: L-333 breeder set up and fry

Thanks Larry, I`ll put them together then. I have them for about 6 months and they are now fully matured. I`ll let them settle in for a while to get used to the new tank and then I try to trigger them.
I heard they are a bit more difficult to spawn then Hypancitrus species. So far I`ve successfully ...

Re: L-333 breeder set up and fry

I breed most of my fish in 29 gallon tanks or 50 breeders. The L-333 are in a 29 gallon tank. There are 2 males and 3 females. I may have to graduate them to a larger tank because they are getting larger.

Do both of your males spawn when you keep them in the same tank or just the dominant one?
I ...

Yes, they are not very hard to breed. If you give them right conditions, like their own tank with no competition of other plecos, right caves, they will spawn regularly. From my experience strong current is not so important (but the water must be well oxygenated), as caves of right size. I have had ...

The problem with cloudy water might be caused by the filters. You shoudn´t clean them so often. Expecially when the tank has been set up just for 2 months, the filters are not cycled properly.
Do the regular water changes as you do now, but you shouldn´t clean the canister filter more often than ...

Put the food for L066 in the tank at night, at least at the beginning. In a few weeks or months when they got acclimatized and used to the new environment they might come out to eat when the lights are on.
