Your giraffe will be ok for now. I keep mine in a 119 us gallon tank. They are territorial, as i bought a wckii and he wasn't daunted by it whatsoever or the fact that it bit him round the head lol. Obviously the wyckii went and now the giraffe shares it with the fish in my signature. He/shes about ...

Maidenhead are a very well established company which would'nt lie about having the right accomodation for the fish. They might have big stores but they are excellent and are as good as any local shop.

Re: Red tail cats in coldwater

I quote from apistomaster. ''What is your point? It's illegal and unethical to release it into the wild.
It is a tropical catfish that has not evolved for coldwater anyway;you want to put it in your outdoor pond?
The 55 degF is optimistic for Oregon.

Just take out the heaters and just let the tanks keep their temperature from the room temperature.

I agree with above.

Both parents are huge, around 6 feet, and crosses grow even bigger so these will be truly huge creatures. I dont think you should keep one, and i wouldn't see the point of buying them to 'grow on' because they will grow so quickly.

Would i be able to keep this fish in my 450L tank with all its inhabitants peacefully and is the tank big enough to keep one?

I would be greatful for any input, in particular any real life experiences with this fish. We can all read the cat-elog but hearing from people who keep them would be great ...

My syno has had those spots for ages too, though it has not changed in behaviour and is still as healthy as ever. Could it be as they are leaving one stage in development to another. Leaving 'juvenile - hood' and entering adulthood?

Hi Ken.

I didn't really find a secret...?? How long have you been continuing with the dead fish? Are they wild caught, because if so, thet will need live fish, and can be then weened onto dead fish. The hujetas are always at the surface and quickly snap at food when i put it in. What fish are you ...

Hi.

No. The hujeta really doesn't need live food. I feed mine a seafood assortment and dead fish and they quickly eat it all up. I am strongly against feeding live fish, just so you know. The limas will feed on the same. Mine dont eat any catfish pellets, though i've heard of some that do. Also ...

I keep these two together at the moment. They are the hujeta gars, though i've got them named as Freshwater Barracudas? Anway i know that they will get along fine. My limas are near fully growth, and the hujetas are smaller than 7 inch and have never been touched. They would be great tankmates.

Anybody else hate football?

Hi, i would just like to say that football is rubbish. What is the fun in watching a bunch of dollyboys kicking a football and falling over? I'm gutted that there's no Top Gear for 5 weeks though.

I'd rather watch a repeat of crufs instead. :D

I think they'll be OK as well. If not, try a Caribbean Armoured Shrimp. The name makes it sound like a right beast but its so not. Its a filter feeder so it can't harm your fish, and is armoured so nothing can eat it. Maybe stingrays but thats about it. I kept mine with a tankful of Malawis ...
