I recently purchased a male Oil catfish, and he is doing great. I was just wondering if anyone had any personal experince with these fish and if so tell me your feeding techniques for them. I have just been feeding mine at 10'o'clock at night and in the morning. But I'm finding its hard to get him to eat frozen food, usually.

I have six of these and they love frozen daphnia. They go crazy for it.

They also eat any other frozen food I care to give them.

I am surprised yours hasn't been feeding well on frozen larvae.

Perhaps he has only just been imported.

Mine do eat with the lights on, but i usually fed them after lights out. I recommend you do the same until he settles down.

Yeah it would make sense that he was just imported in, because he never comes out when the light is on. But I knew they were very nocturnal before I bought him, so I feed him about 30 minutes after the lights go out and before they turn on in the morning. I guess I'll wait him out to see if he settles in.
