Unfortunately my usual computer guru is in another hemisphere, so I am wondering if any of you chaps know your LAN from your WAN?
The hardware:
Thompson Speedtouch ST536v6 ADSL modem
D-Link DIR-300 Wireless G Router
2 PC laptops running XP (known heron as PC1 and PC2)
PC1 with a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN adapter
PC2 with Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G V3
The problem:
PC1 is not able to connect to the internet via wireless
PC2 is able to connect to the internet via wireless
PC1 is able to connect to the router via wireless
PC1 is able to connect to the internet via ethernet cable through the router
PC1 is able to connect to other wireless networks
The modem was installed via PC2
The router was installed via PC1
The settings:
Firewall disabled on PC1
There are no wireless security settings (an open unsecured network)
The screen shots below show all the various settings of the two PCs and the router.
I think the problem is something to do with the MAC and IP addresses of the various equipment and some sort of network conflict arising from the installation of the equipment on different PCs.
I could be completely wrong though, as this is all on the periphery of my understanding!
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
