Rarely seen catfishes from Sumatra
Recently one of my favorite fish shop sent me a notification message of two newly arrived catfishes from southern Sumatra. I was expecting some occasionally available catfishes like small bagrids & clarias, but then they sent photos & turned up to be better things.

Septentrionalis?
I got newly offered corydoras came in as C. septentrionalis, but I've seen other seller labeled them as C. simulatus (pretty sure from the same batch).
Any ideas of what they really is? Thanks for the help.

Re: Trachelyopterus sp.
Bred in Indo ! WOW !!
I am quite surprise as they are offered here for the very first time (I think).
Yes! They came more than a year ago from Colombia in small numbers & months later my friend sent me a photo of a juvenile. This is the first time i've seen a local bred woodcat quite popular ...

Re: Hemibagrus planiceps
What's their temperament and aggressiveness?
Little less timid compared to nemurus & don't hesitate to go out during daytime, but still very skittish when approached by people. I don't really have problem keeping the fish (about 14cm SL week ago) with 6.5cm agamyxis & 8cm carpintis in 90l ...

Thank you.minipol wrote:Nice catfish, any idea how big they get?

Haven't got any idea honestly. Some of my friends said have seen 30 to 35cm specimens, but it's only an estimate.

Clarias leiacanthus?
I have an 8cm specimen last year, sold as C. leiacanthus (they call it 'karai'). The seller cant told me where the fish comes from. Surviving for only 1 week & died by bacterial infection.
Too bad I only have this pict of him in my database, hope it can be useful.

Just got the right time to take a picture of one of my favorite hemibagrus. Usually they came along with nemurus & sold under that name.

Re: Mottled Phalacronotus?
Thanks Silurus! Have a hard time asking about the id & came up with no good answers. I forgot to tell that they possibly came from Musi, Sumatra along with shipment of the glass cat.Silurus wrote:It's just a regular Phalacronotus. I can't tell the difference between P. apogon and P. micronemus, TBH.

Mottled Phalacronotus?
Found this one as contaminant of Ompok rhadinurus
Wondering since if it's just local variant of P. apogon or probably belongs to another species. Thanks for the help guys.
