Its the one on the right I wanted ID'd and I think you are right about it being an L052, and if I can ever manage to get it out from under the mopani wood I will take a better photo but its taken nearly a month for me to settle it enough to get to that part of the tank.

Ancistrus or not? ID Needed
I bought this fish at my LFS about a month ago after searching for nearly 3 months for anywhere that had ancistrus in stock that were big enough to sex to replace my female. I was told at the time that it was one that got put in a larger tank with other fish and "forgotten" and I didn't get a really ...

99% sure, I picked him up from Fishey Business in Portslade and they are very good about confirming the species and L number.

Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps colouring question
Can anyone advise what sort of age a Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps should start developing the colour in its fins, as mine is approx 4-5 months old, doing very well but I cant see any red colour coming?
I will post a picture later for reference, once it wakes up and comes out from under the rocks.

Re: Peppermint fry dropping like flies, help please.
From raising about 150 bristlenose fry I would try the following
1. Try feeding slices of courgette (no need to blanch) both on the side of the tank and weighted on the bottom
2. Watch your ammonia levels like a hawk, as with fry having two interests in life (eat and sh*t) the ammonia can get very ...

Re: Help needed for Injured Juvenile Ancistrus
Sorry I cant, I fished it out dead around 11pm last night, looks like it died from its wounds from fighting the plec as there was definite signs of plec bite marks on it.

Re: Help needed for Injured Juvenile Ancistrus
Don't know, its too young to sex at the moment and seems pretty placid round the other plec's especially the dwarf clown plec's, plus I have had 5 pearl danios go missing which I suspect is the larger upside down catfish which since I put it in the cichlid tank the fish vanishing overnight has ...

Re: Help needed for Injured Juvenile Ancistrus
I am positive its not heater burn as the back of the heater (300W Rena Smart Heater) is the exclusive territory of my L204 "Flash" Plec and that heater is built specifically to stop heater burn happening and I lost another juvenile ancistrus about a week or so back that I found with exactly the same ...

Just getting back to this (late) apologies, the real world has been keeping me offline.
Just to update, some of the eggs hatched much to my surprise and I have 6 fry in total swimming around my 70L tank.

Re: Female Ancistrus Died After Spawning
Its unexpected, I trying to keep the male and the female separate after having to find homes for 60+ baby plecs as I was getting ammonia problems with the 70L tank the fry were in, but I was in the middle of moving the fish around as my 260L tank finally finished cycling so I moved the community ...

Female Ancistrus Died After Spawning
Can anyone advise on this, my female ancistrus spawned in the middle of my community tank, I managed to get some of the eggs in a net before the catfish decended and luckily I had a spare tank and while I was doing that I saw my female climb the side of the community tank and then drop stone dead ...

Re: L204 Feeding + New Tank Substrate Question
Well I tried blanching last night, not a lot of joy as I had to guess the blanching times so I put 2 pieces in one blanched for 2 minutes and one for 4 minutes, no signs of munch marks but the BN's are taking an interest in the one blanched for 4 minutes so I am going to try blanching a bit longer ...

L204 Feeding + New Tank Substrate Question
I need some advice, I bought a L204 "Flash" pleco last week and all the data sheets say that vegetables are a favourite of them, I always keep a slice of courgette (zuchini) in the tank on a feeding frenzy clip which this little guy has ignored but he has been munching the mopani wood and I saw him ...

I got told a slightly different way the other night which is to anticipate where the male plec is going to dash to put in a pint glass with the open end where he can get in, when he goes in you put the net over the glass and lift out, its supposed to work well with corydora's too given that they can ...

When to remove male Ancistrous
Can anyone tell me when I should remove the male Ancistrous, the eggs hatched over the weekend and I figure I have at least 4 fry possibly upto 10 but they are hard to find as they are hiding in corners of the tank and especially between the heater guard and the heater.
